The highest value of one contract, the highest handling capacity, and completely independent design and manufacturing

On 28th September, Dalian Huarui Heavy Industry International Co., Ltd. entered into a general contracting agreement on equipment used at the ore terminal in Malaysia with VALE Group, the world mining tycoon. Nine super sized ship unloaders and bucket wheel stacker reclaimers will be provided for this project with value of this contract of near 100 million dollars, which is a general contracting agreement on key equipment for a bulk material terminal with the highest value of contract, the highest engineering level, the highest handling capacity and completely independent design and manufacturing among all of the contracts that DHHI ever signed till now.

It did not absolutely chance to succeed in signing this contract. It was, however, a successful model of the united cooperation and key problems’ centralized tackling of the whole Group, which manifested the Group’s international competitive power once again. From the beginning of this project, the president of International Co., Ltd. deployed the job in all its aspects, promoted the working scheme and followed the tracks of this project with high standard, all orientations and high strength, which lasted for 3 years. Our staffs went to make field investigation, business negotiation and technical clarification in Malaysia five times, successively submitted the bid for this project six times, went to the Shanghai office of VALE for commercial and technical negotiation tens times, and communicated with VALE by telephone and e-mail for uncounted times .... The numerous enterprises with not quite large scale and feeble technique were gradually weeded out through marathon style project course and strict and uncharitable technical details. Finally three domestic enterprises and six foreign enterprises entered the final biding, including international famous enterprises, such as Voestalpine and ThyssenKrupp.

After winning the pre-biding,International Co., Ltd. immediately convened the relative personnel from Handling Machinery Manufacturing Dep. and Port Machinery Dep. for the final biding mobilization, and clarified the importance of this project in detail, thus confirming in the decision to unite and coordinate with each other. International Co., Ltd. transferred three backbone project managers who are proficient in English, perfect at a skill and rich in experience with negotiation to form a major project working team and take charge of all of the organizing and coordinating work in the course of this project. Expiration date of this turnkey project will be October of 2013.

Related links：In 2009, VALE came to a decision to build an ore transfer terminal at the west coast of Malaysia in the Asia-Pacific region, thus forming an ore logistics system that spreads over the entire Asia-Pacific region. This project was called VMMP, i.e. Brazilian Vale & Malaysia Ore Terminal Construction Project. It would be a project of the largest ore transfer terminal in the world among ever built up the ore transfer terminals, which would be constructed in three phases. This contract that was signed includes all of the major equipment required for construction of Phase I. After the completion of this project, twelve 400,000 dwt ore vessels can berth at the terminal at the same time. The terminal will be put into operation in February, 2014.
