On Feb. 14th, the first 20,000t×125m bridge crane with multiple lifting points in the world independently developed and manufactured by DHI·DCW was awarded the Second Prize of State Scientific and Technological Advances at the State Science and Technology Encouragement Congress in Beijing ceremoniously held by the Party Central Committee and the State Council, which was the first state-level prize of science and technology that DHI?DCW has ever awarded since its establishment, and also the only prize in the heavy machinery industry nationwide for this time. Mr. Zou Sheng, who is deputy GM and was representative of Group Co., adorned himself with flowers and participated in this encouragement congress. Before the congress began, he andparticipants were met cordially with Mr. Hu Jintao, Mr. Wen Jiabao, Mr. Li Keqiang and other Party and State leaders and had a group photo taken to mark the occasion.

Since the 20,000t bridge crane was put into operation in Yantai Raffles Oceaneering Co., Ltd. in January of 2008, it has successfully completed the lifting and assembling operations of extra 10,000t offshore platform for the customer many times. It could shorten the construction period by 30%, its one lift could save about 2 million working hours, thus reducing the construction cost and creating the highest economic benefit for the customer. Successful development of this crane solved many sensitive and thorny issues in the technical field of lifting equipment, created many world records in the field of lifting equipment, and made China to be the first country to grasp this technology. Application of this technology makes it achievable to lift and assemble the marine oil drilling platform as a whole, which fundamentally changed the traditional construction process for offshore platform, and made the construction more secure; innovated the traditional construction process of offshore platform, and led the development of ocean engineering construction industry in the world, played an important role in promotion of scientific and technological advances in the industry and national economy construction.

In the past few years, this 20,000t bridge crane was awarded four national patents for invention and 3 international patents for invention. Its overall function and engineering level kept ahead in the world. This crane project was determined as one of the projects for significant innovations in the 12th batch on the new Chinese enterprise records in 2007; and awarded the Prize of “Best Mechanical Engineering Achievements” by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and had the honor to get the “Guinness World Record of the Crane with the Highest Lifting Capacity” (GWRL) and awarded the Prize of “The light of the New Technology” by the American Huston Ocean Engineering Technology (OTC) in 2008 as well as the Special-class Prize of “2010 Annual Science and Technology of Mechanical Industry” in China and listed as one of the National New Key Products in 2011. The Second Prize of State Scientific and Technological Advances awarded this time has a significant meaning to further expand the influence of DHI·DCW in China, give play to engineering and manufacturing superiority and take use of the scientific and technological innovation to bring along the market development.

It was reported that the Prize of National Natural Science, the Prize of Technical Invention, and the Prize of Science and Technology Advances would be designated by the name of three grand prizes in the encouragement of the National Science and Technology and the highest prizes of science and technology in our country, which would be examined and appraised at yearly intervals.
