Established in 1942 and present in more than 30 countries, Vale is the world's largest producer of iron ore and pellets and one of the largest producers of nickel in the world. Vale has been present in China since 1973 and now China becomes the most important market for Vale. To meet its significant demand of the iron ore and secure company's competency in the Asian market, in 2011, Vale determined to invest USD 1.4 billion in a Malaysian port able to offer an alternative distribution base for Chinese customers, as well as clients in other Asian nations. The project named as VMM will include storage facilities for up to 11 million tons of ore and be open in 2014. Up till the 1st phase completed, it will be able to receive 30 million tons per year and up to 100 million tons per year with subsequent expansions. This will optimize the Vale's supply chain and improve the efficiency to serve the Chinese and Asian customers. Therefore, the delivery by DHHI is remarkable to Vale's business operation in the region.
On Sep. 27th, 2011, DHHI, standing out in the competition with other 9 international and domestic companies, signed the EPC with Vale for VMM first phase's main equipments, including oversized ship unloader and bucket-wheel reclaimer. The total contract value is near 100 million US dollars. Vale is well known by its high standard and requirement and holds the leading position in the industry; accordingly, DHHI will produce the export products by international standard in this cooperation to fully demonstrate its comprehensive capacity. At present, 1 set of stacker, 1 set of reclaimer and 3 sets of stacker-reclaimer of the contract have been delivered to client's site on time and they are under installation and commission as scheduled. The product quality and equipment performance are in good conditions, and are fully affirmed by clients.
The delivered 3 sets of 3500t/h ship unloaders are equipped for the world largest 400,000t iron ore vessel, and are the critical equipments for bulk cargo terminal which are completely self-designed and manufactured by DHHI with the state-of-art technology and the most strict fabrication standard by now, and are also the bridge-type grab ship unloader with the largest capacity and highest automation degree designed and fabricated in China currently. The ship unloaders were designed and fabricated by meeting the international standards of ISO, FEM, IEC and Vale standard. The lifting capacity is 73 tons, reach distance is 50 meters and gauge is 35 meters. The concepts of safety, high efficiency, energy saving, environmental protection and humanity are fully embodied in the design philosophy. The successful delivery of the products for this project means the strategic cooperation between Vale and DHHI has mounted a higher position, and the new cooperation field has been developed for more profound collaboration between the two companies.
In recent years, DHHI faced the complex economic situation domestically and abroad, which brought the serious challenges for its production and operation. The strategy to unswervingly pursue the international business and persist in "going-out" to explore the global market has yielded the positive result, which has made up for the sluggish demands from both the domestic and international markets. During the period of the implementation of the international operation strategy, DHHI persists in "high-end" strategy and always targets the high-end customers. DHHI adopts the international standards of design and fabrication to serve clients' critical projects to reinforce its strength in the technology and quality. As a result, it has raised the company's brand impact and global competence, and ultimately expanded its market share in the global arena.
DHHI has established the strategic business cooperation relationship on long-term basis with more than 30 international famous companies, such as Vale, German SMS, ThyssenKrupp, Japan IHI, Mitsubishi, Australia BHP and Woodbrook and etc. All parties work together to explore the global market based on the principle of win-win strategy. Through the efforts for a couple of years, DHHI continuously made new improvement and outstanding achievement in the fierce competition in global market. In 2012, it has wined 400 million USD dollars export orders at the year-on-year growth rate of 21%. Faced with domestic tough situation and challenge, DHHI will always devote to the acceleration of the product restructuring, expanding the global business operation, and promoting the scientific development, in order to make more contribution to the city, the province and the country.
